www.mentalhealthleeds.info went live on October 10th 2002...World Mental Health Day. This is just the first phase in the development of this valuable new resource.
On this website you can search for organisations that are working to promote and improve the mental health of people in and around Leeds. For the first time anyone with access to the net will rapidly be able to find the information they need about local organisations at any time of day or night. The site is also a gateway to a huge range of other organisations through the 'links' page, or by clicking on the 'hyperlinks' within the details of organisations (if they have a website.)
We update organisations' details regularly, as we get news of any changes. That's why it's important that you send us any amendments about your own organisation, or about others. We are confident that this website is and will remain the most up to date form of the Leeds Mental Health Directory.
We know that many people do not have access to the Internet. We also know that different people take in information in different ways. That is why we are also actively working on a range of other information resources. We intend to publish a guide for users of services, and for people actively involved in mental health in and around Leeds. We are also working in partnership with the Leeds Mental Health Trust to provide information to people in hospitals, and with several other organisations (such as the local Primary Care Trusts) to help provide appropriate information resources for their communities. We will keep you informed of all developments on this site.
The site, especially the database, is being very well used but we know there may still be things that can be improved. That's why we need your feedback - we'll need to know whether it is meeting your needs. Then we will be able to develop in more directions. We want you to be able to read and print off a variety of leaflets, and local and national policy documents. We want to make the site accessible to people who read community languages and we want to do much more. That's why we need your ideas - we can't guarantee to carry them out, but we will definitely listen, and think about them.
We are always seeking to improve the accessibility of our resources, and we want this site to be available to everyone who wants to use it. We have implemented some standard accessibility features, such as:
We plan to introduce more, as well as simplifying our content and the structure of the site. Again, we need your feedback and ideas on how to improve.
This website has been funded and supported by Leeds Mind, Leeds City Council Social Services Department, and the five Leeds Primary Care Trusts.
We would like to thank everybody involved in the production of this website, particularly:
This site uses open-source technologies (PHP and MySQL) and validates as XHTML 1.0 (Transitional). HTML tables are used for layout purposes in order to preserve backward-compatibility with older browsers that do not properly implement CSS, but apart from that the site has been coded to conform with emerging web standards.
Every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the information produced by Information for Mental Health. Information for Mental Health does not accept liability for any errors, omissions or misrepresentations. We recommend that people always check latest information for themselves. Information for Mental Health does not assess, or recommend any organisation, by including it on our database, or elsewhere.
