The information revolution has created huge opportunities, but also left many people behind.
As an information project we are dedicated to empowering people and increasing their choices in life. We want as many people as possible to have access to the information we produce and provide throughout our work, including our website.
We have taken a number of positive measures to increase the accessibility of the site. These include:
While it is impossible to cater for all people and the technologies they use, we have explicitly prioritised compliance with as wide a range of browsers and devices as possible. (Technical note: HTML tables are retained in favour of a pure-CSS driven site because a significant proportion of our visitors are using browsers that do not deal well with CSS.)
Furthermore, recognising that some aids (such as accesskeys) can cause problems to certain users we have taken steps to ensure that they can be turned off if necessary.
Most of all, it is our intention to keep the site as simple and clear to use as possible.
We are always keen to further increase the accessibility of the site, and of all our work. Our web designer strives to keep up to date with relevant developments, and we always take note of feedback. Please let us know if you have any relevant suggestions or comments.
