Description

This practice guidance is designed to help authorities decide how to implement the NHS Plan target and appoint at least 500 community mental health staff, or 'Gateway workers' by 2004. It should be read in conjunction with standards two and three of the mental health National Service Framework, and the NSF Policy Implementation Guidei. It is structured around the main points of access to mental health treatment and care and based on current views of good practice. It will therefore be subject to revision in the light of experience.
